War:

Will Bush soon be a convicted war criminal? The long-term damage from a short-term war. More on the dangers of depleted uranium, which the US has already said it will not clean up. And, of course, there are also the cluster bombs, which litter a Baghdad neighborhood. Did the US trade favors for Baghdad's capitulation? Rumsfeld's theory of freedom spreads as Iraqis riot at a bank. Many Iraqis turn their anger towards US troops. More on the trouble in Mosul, and the Shia of Najaf aren't happy either. There's still trouble in Tikrit as Marines battle pro-Saddam gangs. More chaos in Basra. History pillaged as oil resources are secured. Will weapons inspectors return? What if no WMDs are found, and no one buys the convenient excuses? Who saved Private Lynch?

World:

In the Bush tradition, if you alienate your nation, you'll be awarded for your leadership. Saddam, Osama, Bush, and America's naiveté. Bush ignores Canadian PM, so Chretien will play golf with Clinton. Are we ending our relationship with France? When will we invade Syria? And why would we invade Syria (or maybe we could just broach their border a little bit)? Or perhaps those cowardly Brits should be next? Is Blair's alliance with Bush a damaging strategic move? Is the world now a safer place?

Media:

An embedded photographer's story.

Liberty

Some peace activists won't pay taxes. Hundreds of US soldiers emerge as conscientious objectors.

The People of Iraq:

Onward, Christian soldiers! Is this a new colonial oppression?
"We survived the war, but the peace is killing us."
Of course, if the US had just used more powerful bombs, there'd be no one left to complain. US blocks humanitarian aid for Northern Iraq, and red tape is blocking more aid throughout the country. US troops accused of killing the liberated. Nothing left to drink in Basra and no power in Baghdad. Iraqis are living in fear.

Economics:

The suits inside the battledress. Permanent members of the UN Security Counsel preparing for a battle over who will exploit Iraq's oil. How much will the US pay for the future of Iraq. American company will re-educate Iraqis.

Miscellany:

Prying gold off doors. Let's teach the French a real lesson and Send Back the Statue of Liberty! CNN posts Dick Cheney's obituary.

War:

Bush and Chirac make nice. Are Bush and Blair guilty of war crimes? As US welcome quickly wears out, troops fire on protestors. Winning a stupid war.

Did US troops encourage looting? Looters ransack Iraq's National Library. But, hey, who cares about looting... your Hummer doesn't run on priceless artifacts, does it? POWs get help from their captors. US installed leader of Iraq will create a Bush-friendly government, but Iraqi opposition "leader" and Shi'ite population aren't really speaking to each other.

"It's an amazing thing when you see a person wounded, sitting there in a wheelchair or bound up in bandages or these different-looking metal things sticking out of them to hold them together."
George W. Bush, the Compassionate.

Bush should be impeached if he invades Syria. US cuts off oil pipeline into Syria. If we play our cards right, we can invade Russia, as well. Or, how about Cuba?

Oh yeah... where are those Weapons of Mass Destruction? And why aren't we cleaning up our own weapons of mass destruction that we dropped all over Iraq? And if we ever find any in Iraq that don't belong to us, we may be legally bound to let others inspect them.

World:

The spread of the pre-emptive strike.

Media:

How did America's non-English speaking media cover the war? More scare tactics as marines invade journalists' Baghdad hotel. That's why you shouldn't alienate the White House. The war, according to Fox.

The People of Iraq:

Iraqi boy to be airlifted to Kuwait. Amnesty International says "Coalition of the Willing" is in breach of the Geneva Conventions. Send in the missionaries! Digging graves in crowded cemeteries and outside hospitals. With hospitals in critical condition, British doctors are pulling out (WARNING: Graphic pictures). The anguish of civilian casualties. Liberation and brutal street justice. The new fight for control of Baghdad begins

Economics:

US Treasury Department finally gets around to doing just a little something about US companies that traded with Iraq. But it will all even out as reconstruction contracts are going exclusively to US companies. Support the troops and screw the vets! Bomb before you buy. Sony ready to cash in on Shock and Awe. Rebuilding Iraq and cutting taxes. In the garden of Eden, all that's left is Iraq's money tree.

History:

The Roots of War. Europe hears echoes of past empires.

Miscellany:

Twelve reasons why Bush should run Iraq. Video: Rapt in a Chain of Violence. Are you wondering what role the UN will play in Iraq? CNN covers the war. Precision weapons leaving cities in dust.

War:

A city in flames, a nation in chaos. Bedlam on the streets. Looters swarm into new areas of Baghdad. Allies say looting is a sign of independence, so let’s just let free people do bad things. What do we do about the chaos? Iraqis: “Our city is already ruined by looting.” There is anguish in killing an outmatched foe. Our warm welcome is wearing out. Maybe the reasons for the war were far more simple than any of us thought. Big surprise: war planned long time in advance. Marines ordered to dump war booty. Dyncorp to send rent-a-cops to Iraq as their contract is scrutinized (and more here). The city of Mosul burns. We’re protecting the oil ministry in Baghdad, but not the museums (and there are fears that the museum looters might soon be the good ole’ Americans). Military commanders live the high life. Leader US plans to install for the Iraqis has a Bush-like financial background. Is it too early to declare victory in the war? Or, did this win just prove the anti-war movement's point that Saddam posed no immediate threat?

Ricin in Paris train station last month that Bush tried to link to Iraq turns out to be WHEAT GERM. America targeted 14,000 sites, so where are the WMD?

World:

It’s time to sign up with the rest of the world team. Why Hussein’s fall is not a Berlin Wall for the Arab world. Where will the Bush doctrine take us next? Apparently, the Thief-in-Chief has got his eyes on Syria.

"If George Bush [Jnr] decided he was going to turn the troops loose on Syria and Iran after that he would last in office for about 15 minutes. In fact if President Bush were to try that now even I would think that he ought to be impeached. You can't get away with that sort of thing in this democracy."
Lawrence Eagleburger, US Secretary of State under George Bush Snr.

Media:

CBS producer fired. Karl Rove just wanted to hear the good news. One way to anger the right wing media.

Liberty:

Where does the anti-war movement go from here? Even clowns are opposed to war. Business gives up on “Freedom” and puts the French back in its name. Big Brother is staring at your underwear.

The People of Iraq:

Medical help is in crisis. Lawlessness delays the delivery of aid. The Iraqi Body Count. Will Bush HELP THIS BOY?

Economics:

More on the fight to look into Halliburton’s inside deals. Sony applies for Shock and Awe trademark.

History:

From republic to empire: LBJ and Nixon had nothing on Bush. What-oh-what were Rumsfeld and Husseing talking about in 1984?

Miscellany:

Bombard the Baseball Hall of Fame We love the Iraqi information minister.

War:

US forces facing chaos. Basra on the verge of erupting in riots. Cheering crowds and urban warfare. Suicide bombs injure troops. A senior Shia leader has been murdered. The American flag controversy (and the myth of an Iraqi connection to 9/11). The troops and the living wage. The United States will select Iraq's new leaders (and the Americans who will run Iraq). The brilliant "Domino Theory" returns. What about Private Lori? US planes are pounding the Iraq/Syria border. Turkey sends military observers as Kurds take Kirkuk. Much of Iraq lies outside US control.

Marines discover weapons grade plutonium, but did they really just pull a Christopher Columbus?

World:

Voice of America's take on the harsh words for for Syria. The Middle East reacts to the fall.

Media:

Can the right wing media pundits be civilized? Are pictures being manipulated? Journalists die, networks lie. The victor of the news war has been the Internet.

Liberty:

NYPD interrogating protestors on their political ideologies. Ex-Reagan aide cancels Baseball Hall of Fame film celebration so let's change his mind.

The People of Iraq:

Was this the only way to free Iraq? We could not have possibly found another way? UNICEF warns of worsening situation for Iraqi children. Bodies litter the streets. Shi'ite group to boycott US talks on Iraq.

Economics:

The spoils of war. War tax resistance made easy. Will the Bush doctrine strike a blow to globalization? Will there be a Halliburton probe? Carlyle Group buys stake in British defence company.
